Back after a while away
Und traulich eingewohnt, so droht Erschlaffen;
Nur wer bereit zu Aufbruch ist und Reise,
Mag lähmender Gewöhnung sich entraffen.
(Hermann Hesse)
It has been a wonderful year. Full of impressions,thoughts, time for myself, family, friends, my partner. Time to relax and time to reflect. Time to learn, time to just be and try out new things. Time to focus on things that are close to my heart. Living and breathing, struggling and feeling centered. A true journey, inside and outside.
A while away -this is what I called this journey. The principle is simple: Get out of your comfort zone, out of the “normal”. The emptiness that appears wants to be experienced and lived-through. Waiting for the new things that show up needs some patience. When you return, you might be a bit different. The poem form Hermann Hesse tell this in beautiful words – too hard to translate to English. All I can say is that it is totally worth it, and I am happy to share my experiences with you personally. Just ask. And I wish I can insipre more people to take a while away – for a year, a week, or just a few hours.
I am now returning to an exciting assignment in Boehringer Ingelheim. One of my findings: I really want to and am looking forward to work with others on making it an even better place to work and help people’s health.
Feeling very privileged and grateful, I want to thank everyone who made this year possible: My colleagues and supervisors: Andreas, Markus, Mike and Gerhard. My partner Josefa. Kate, Sue, and Julia for inspiring talks upfront, and all the many friends and family membersfor your thoughts, interest and good wishes.
